DALLAS -- A school bus transporting hearing-impaired students was involved in an accident in West Dallas Thursday morning. The bus belongs to Jean Massieu Academy in Arlington, a school for the deaf.
Eleven students were transported by ambulance to Children's Medical Center of Dallas and one student was taken to Parkland Hospital. A 12th child was released to her parents.
The students were taken to hospitals as a precaution, according to Deputy Kevin Feinglass, Dallas County Sheriff's Office.
The bus and a car collided at a stoplight on the Loop 12 Service Rd. at Keeneland Parkway. Investigators don't know yet who is at fault.
The bus driver is also hearing-impaired.
Deputy Feinglass said there was an extra challenge in working this accident because none of the deputies knows sign language.
