Topic: Deaf parents adopting kids or have kids

Do you ever run into problems with people saying "you can't take care of kids cuz ur deaf"?? my friend told me he knew a deaf lady from Medford Oregon who had couple of kids, she is a nice lady and a good mother but she always had a neighbor who would call children service on her and go up to her door banging on door, telling her she is in no condition to care for children cuz she is deaf. I feel piss at that when ppl don't understand us deafies, they think we can't drive, write, read , or do anything.
I asked my friend about me adopting a kid or a baby, he said that might not happen cuz
ppl who run adoptions are really picky about who gets the kids, if there's something
different about a person they panic and say no. so tell me what you think??

Is this for real about neighbor called on deaf mom just cuz they don't think a deaf can care for kids? This is weird. Yeah, deaf people can adopt. I know several deaf parents out there adopted kids, even some of them were deaf kids.

yeah that what my friend Robert, told me, he knew a deaf lady from Medford Oregon, as we used to live in Oregon 3 years ago... i do not really know if it is common though??
maybe it is not common.

Please ask your friend Robert how did he know? And ask him for the link so we can take a look at it to figure out what went wrong.

it happened about 7 years ago, so there's no link, it was something he heard, cuz we used to go to a deaf club in medford, maybe he did not really hear the full story about why, so forget this topic. maybe she was doing something wrong for real, i dunno. when he told me about what he heard, i was kinda shocked so i just wanted to ask u guys if it common occurs or not, i don't think it's common. cuz i never really heard about it happening.
